A very elegant French mantel clock in the classic Boulle style. The red tortoiseshell case is inlaid with fine Boulle work in great condition, with beautifully detailed cast brass foliage mounts to the edges of the case as well as decorative splayed feet, topped by an attractive floral cast brass finial. The typical sunburst pendulum is visible through the glass aperature to the front face, below an ornate gilt brass dial with enamelled number cartouches, showing blue Roman numerals, and a delicate pair of hands. Inside, the 8 day movement striking the hour and half hour on a bell, wound from the front. Overall a very attractive clock. Made circa 1890 by Japy Frères of Besancon, France.

Classic French Boulle Clock With Rare Bracket

A fine and very good condition French mantel clock. Exceptional Boulle work on a red ground, decorated on the front and side faces, with beautifully detailed cast brass features to the edges of the case and decorative splayed feet, topped by an attractive cast brass finial. The ornate sunburst pendulum can be seen through the glass aperature to the front of the clock, and above, the gilt dial with 12 enamelled number cartouches showing Roman numerals. This clock comes with an identically decorated Boulle bracket, as seen in the pictures, which can be restored if requested for an extra cost. We recommend you come into the shop to see this pair! 8 day movement, gong striking on the hour and half hour. Made in Paris circa 1890 by A.D. Mougin, who won two gold medals at exhibitions. A very attractive clock and quite hard to find. Bracket measures D130mm, W155mm, H195mm, overall height with clock standing on bracket is 505mm.

A fine French ‘Boulle’ mantel clock of good size and proportions by Charles Vincenti, the twelve section cartouche dial showing Roman numerals, with polished blued steel hands and a cast brass decorative bezel surround. The case is typical of Boulle work – after Andre-Charles Boulle – and has a good level of detail, with the sides also being fully decorated, standing on ‘C’ scroll bracket feet with a finial in the form of ‘the basket of plenty’ to decorate the top. Made in Paris around 1880-90 Stamped and numbered. It is worth remembering that all our clocks have had a full dismantle / overhaul unlike many others for sale online and carry a full 12 month Guarantee in writing, which adds to the value and longevity of this fine clock.
